Ares

Ares

God of War & Untamed Violence

Born to Zeus (God of Sky & Thunder) and Hera (Goddess of Marriage & Monogamy), brother to Aphrodite, Apollo, Artemis, Athena, Dionysus, Hephaestus, Hermes and the Muses. He is the embodiment of physical, violent and untamed war.

Though talented, most gods didn’t care for Ares because of his ruthless, reckless behavior. He bore sons with that same element for destruction, Phobos (Fear) and Deimos (Terror). Enyo (Discord) sat in his chariot with him, wherever he went.

When his brother, Hephaestus (God of fire), married Aphrodite (Goddess of Love, Beauty & Sex), he coveted the new bride and began an affair. The sun god, Helios, saw the two together and told the great blacksmith. Being the true inventor and innovator that he has, Hephaestus created a special net to ensnare the couple and dragged them to the steps of Mount Olympus, to be ridiculed by all the gods.

In the Trojan War, Ares, unlike most gods, took the side of Troy. His sister, Athena, sided with the Greeks, where he was chaos, she was calm at the Greeks won the battle, further displacing Ares from his family.
