Every day, I get more irritated at the reaction of people regarding this virus. It's been truly amazing to witness the power of the media in creating a panic within our country so complete and resolute, it's absolutely mind-boggling to me! Some of the crazy stories and predictions are so over the top and shared like sand through an hourglass, that you would think the world is ending.
Total cases in the USA: 1,629
(3 visiting from China and 46 from a cruise ship)
Close Contact 129
Under Investigation 1,362
(which simply means it's happening quickly and they're trying to catch up with how it spread in those cases)
Total deaths: 41
Jurisdictions reporting cases: 47
(46 states and District of Columbia)
How To Avoid It:
Clean your hands often (you learned this in kindergarten)
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands (common sense)
Avoid close contact (common sense)
Stay home if you're sick (common sense)
Cover coughs and sneezes (again you learned this in kindergarten, and if you cough or sneeze in you hands, wash them again!)
Wear a facemask if you're sick, especially if you're going to be around sick or vulnerable people (common sense)
Clean and/or disinfect your areas (aren't you doing this at least once a week anyway?)
The FLU in the USA
From October 1, 2019 - March 7, 2020
(so about 5 1/2 months)
36,000,000 - 51,000,000 people have gotten the flu in the US (that's MILLION folks)
17,000,000 - 24,000,000 went to see the doctor about it
370,000 - 670,000 people had to go to the hospital because of it
22,000 - 55,000 people died from it
Every few years we get another badder/stronger flu or virus, which in my opinion, has more to do with antibiotic abuse rather than anything else, and that sucks.
**Pointed out to me antibiotics don't work on viruses (I did know that) and it's true, but my point of abuse of antibiotics, (overprescription, not taking them correctly, etc.) in my opinion, is correct.
It seems to target different groups of people each time, but primarily it's the vulnerable that bears the brunt.
The elderly and those in assisted living
Chronic Disease: like heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, HIV, etc.
Help them get their supplies and medications! Make sure you're protecting them at all costs! Worry for them! They are the ones that need it!
Stop freaking everyone else out.
It isn't necessary and creates even more problems, as we are now seeing everywhere!
If you are at higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19, the CDC recommends:
Take everyday precautions to keep space between yourself and others.
When you go out in public, keep away from others who are sick, limit close contact and wash your hands often.
During a COVID-19 outbreak in your community, stay home as much as possible to further reduce your risk of being exposed.
We have gotten Ebola, the swine flu, the avian/bird flu, SARS and a bunch of other virus-related diseases, that have been far worse than this, and every time it happens the media sets us on a collision course with absolute doom.
What's worse is they love it because we freak out and watch their programs to get the latest and greatest (false) information, so they can scare the shit out of us all over again, when you really should be doing what you were hopefully taught as a small child.
And I'm sorry but if you're someone that doesn't cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, or don't wash your hands after you use the restroom, that is disgusting, and you quite frankly, deserve all ostracism, shame, and grief you can get for your recklessness and filthy habits.
I, for one, will not be silent if you do that shit in front of me anymore!
Finally, to those of you that really do have something to worry about in regard to this virus, and I know a few of you,
May God bless you with strength and health within your body, and faith within your soul to keep you close to His heart and embrace. Protect yourselves and know that you're in my thoughts and prayers for speedy recoveries.
