Welcome Pamela to Jeny's TattleTales

Do you have a motto Pamela? Any words that you like to live by?

Don’t mock what you don’t understand and judge not lest you be judged.

Great ones! What are two (or more) of your all-time favorite books in any genre?

Nora Roberts’ Born In trilogy and Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

Love the Born In trilogy! She had so many fantastic ones, especially around that time! People are so incredibly busy these days and trying to find content out there to follow is tricky. How would someone benefit from signing up for your newsletter?

Newsletter subscribers get a free short story (I try to do 2 each year) and they get sneak peeks at covers and special gifts or contests just for them, but mainly they don’t get bombarded each day or week. Not even monthly. I try to spread out my newsletters quarterly or even longer between each one unless something special is happening.

Fantastic! Here's another one. Sometimes fans really want to help out their favorite author, but don't really know how to go about it. If a reader could do one thing to help their favorite author, what would it be?

Buy their books for friends and relatives instead of sharing them. I too, love to share good books but when possible, I buy them – this is so important, especially for self-published authors.

And what do you do for fun, besides writing?

I love to travel and to ride horses, hike, spend time outdoors.

Do you have a message you want to share in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Even though grief feels like the end of the world or like you’ll never see the light at the end of the tunnel (and not fear it’s a freight train!) – There IS life, and even love, on the other side of grief. And although you may never fully “move on”, keep on moving forward… one day, one moment, one prayer at a time.

Beautifully said! Is there anything else you'd like to say to the readers out there?

How much I truly love and appreciate each and every one of them and the continued love and support they show.

My Heart Weeps
Blurb & Excerpt

After thirty years married to the man of her dreams, Melena Rhyker is devastated by her husband’s death. Relief comes in the form of an artist’s retreat at the Crossed Penn ranch in Utopia, TX. She rediscovers a forgotten dream as her artistic talent flourishes into that of a gallery-worthy artist. Will she have the courage to follow the path she was destined to travel?

Garrett Saunders has been on the run most of his life. Abused and abandoned as a child, he escapes the clutches of a past filled with pain and shame, and hides from his calling as a Native American healer. His years as a CIA agent aid in overcoming his childhood and honing his talent and skill as a fine art photographer.

Follow their journey as two people who come from totally different backgrounds, but share gifts of gigantic proportions, find meaning and purpose in the Texas Hill Country.

Excerpt 1

“So did all this frivolous energy give you any ideas about the future? There’s a light in your eyes that wasn’t there this morning.”

Melena smiled. “You always could look right into my soul. Actually, I’m thinking I should take your advice and quit my job or take an extended leave of absence.”

“I think that’s a great idea. Have you put numbers together with your finances to see how long you could go without a regular income?”

“Only in my head, but I think I have enough for the better part of this year.”

“What will you do? I mean, staying holed up in the house is definitely not healthy.”

Melena leaned back in her chair with a sigh. “It’s never easy, is it? I mean, I get all excited about finally making a decision for myself, and up pops a dozen other issues to consider.”

She thought a moment, shrugged. “Maybe I’ll work on my art. Jon always said I have talent and that I should do something with it. But I’ve been content to use it only as a means to gift others. Maybe if I put as much passion and energy into painting and glasswork as I did my marriage, our home, and our life together, I could be successful enough to earn a decent living.” She blew out a breath. “I don’t know…I can’t think past tomorrow or next week, much less the future. It’s all so overwhelming.”

Just five yards from the trees, a gigantic black beast bounded from the woods and landed before him. The doctor skittered to a stop, and his feet went out from beneath him. The creature stepped closer, looming. Its eyes glowed red, and the skin around its muzzle drew back, revealing a mouthful of sharp canine teeth.

The Klan had come at him in two directions, the doctor realized. He raised his pistol and fired into the snarling face above him.

Name three things you see when you look right. Since I’m at my son’s house right now that would be….
Wall décor that states “Home is not a place, it’s a feeling.” Wall décor that states “Gather” Wall décor that states “Calories – pronounced kal-uh-rees – tiny creatures that live in your closet and sew your clothes a little bit tighter every night.

What’s the best swag item you’ve ever seen? A tiny notepad with a pen that has a book cover on it.

Who do you think is the most irritating celebrity? Oh my, there are too many to count! If I had to pick just one it would be…. Adam Sandler. Reign Over Me is the only movie I actually liked in which I was able to connect with the character he portrayed.

What is your most attractive feature? My heart. I know many people may think of their eyes or smile and I’ve been complimented on those, but I have a big heart and tend to almost always give people 2nd chances…. Over and over and over….

Cook, baker, or next question? Oh, baker. I LOVE sweet treats!!

Place you’d like to visit: Ireland and Jerusalem

If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play you? Melissa Gilbert or Sandra Bullock – aging myself much? LOL!

What song best sums you up? The Dance by Garth Brooks – life has dealt some pretty harsh blows with the death of my husband eleven years ago and although I often wish I’d missed that particular pain in my life, I wouldn’t trade our twenty years together for anything in the world. So yeah, I could’ve missed the pain, but I’d have missed the dance of life and love we shared.

Describe yourself in three words: Kind, Generous, Compassionate

If you were here when the earth began would you be a hunter or a gatherer? Hhmmm… my first thought is a hunter but I don’t like to kill things, so I guess gatherer.

Spring, Summer, Fall Winter? Once upon a time I would have said Summer – without hesitation – but the older I get the more I enjoy the cooler temps of Fall and Spring.

Mac or PC? PC

What is your favorite thing to learn about in your free time? Free time? What’s that? LOL! Seriously, I don’t have a lot of free time to learn about anything, but I do enjoy delving into spirituality, spiritual living, and spiritual gifts.

You have a time travel machine. Where and when? Jerusalem in the time of Jesus. I would LOVE to sit at His feet as Martha did.

Are you earth, wind, fire, or water? Earth with hints of fire and water.

  1. Nice to get to know more about you, Pam. I heard someone once say “I’m a comedian who is Christian, not a Christian comedian. ” I like it and live by it.
I’m also a fan of Francine Rivers and like Jan Karon, too. Best of luck with your books. D. V. 🦉

  2. That was great! I loved the speed dating part, too. I loved learning more about you. You have so many projects going on. You amaze me!

  4. Great interview! I agree about the cooler Fall season too. Also, what a coincidence that I’ve recently received a copy of Francine River’s Redeeming Love in the mail! Knowing that it is one of your favourites, I shall put move it up the ranks on my to be read pile.
